Every Rupee, on the Record.
Independently audited accounts - what investment partners committed, what reached the work, and the statutory checks behind both. Every figure is drawn from a signed balance sheet.
Who DEHAT Is, on Paper.
DEHAT publishes its full legal identity so that any investment partner, auditor, journalist or community member can verify the organisation independently, without asking us first.
Two Accounts, and the Law Decides Which One.
Two accounts, and the line between them is a legal one. Domestic contributions go to the IDFC FIRST account in Bahraich. Foreign contributions may only be received in the designated State Bank of India account in New Delhi - no other account may take them. Both are published in full so you can remit without asking us first.
Slice the Accounts on Record Any Way You Like.
Every line below is drawn from a signed, audited statement. Choose a basis, a span of years and a lens, then click a bar or a segment to see exactly what sits underneath it.
How a rupee is classified: programme, child right, investment source and Schedule VII item are assigned grant by grant from the partnership agreement and the audited grant schedule. Where one partner supported work in more than one programme, the project line decides. In-kind support is shown at the value booked in the accounts and is never added to cash. Every figure ties to the audited receipts total for the year; where the statement does not attribute part of that total to a named partner, it appears as its own line rather than being dropped.
Accounts on the Record, Unbroken Since 2005–06.
Every financial year since 2005–06 is here, in the order the auditor closed it. The signed balance sheet for each year opens as a PDF from its row. Years that received foreign contribution also carry their annual return under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act; where that return is not yet published here, the row says so and you can ask us for it. Open a year to see what partners committed, what reached the work, who examined the books and what the balance sheet carried into the next April.
Committed is what reached the accounts in that year on a receipts basis. Deployed is what the income and expenditure statement charged to the work, which can exceed the year’s receipts where a grant received earlier was spent later. Reserves shows the closing result on the income and expenditure basis after depreciation, so it will not equal committed less deployed.
Who Invests in This Work
The institutions and individuals whose capital powers this work - partners in a shared outcome, not one-way donors. Foreign contributions are held and audited in a separate Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act account, as the law requires; domestic funds run through the rupee books.
DEHAT is a registered Society (Societies Registration Act, 1860). Below is the annual accountability cycle a reviewer expects to see - and that DEHAT files.
Audited by a practising Chartered Accountant every year and signed with a Unique Document Identification Number. Five different firms have examined the books over the past decade - no single long-tenure relationship.

DEHAT is a registered Society, so it is governed by its members and not by its team. Every line in this chart runs both ways. Read it downward and it is a delegation of authority; read it upward and it is a line of accountability. Flip the direction, or click any body to trace its chain. Two standing committees carry the executive work under written terms of reference: the Strategic Leadership Team takes what concerns the institution, the Core Team takes what concerns the programmes. Below them the chart is drawn in two-headed arrows - anchor to anchor, anchor to project, project to grassroots, grassroots to community - and one line runs the full height of it, connecting the Strategic Leadership Team directly to the community bodies at the base.
Not beneficiaries of the structure but the base of it. These bodies set priorities, review the work in their own villages and carry demands into public systems.
Click any post to trace its line to the General Body and see both what it may decide and what it must answer for. Switch the direction above to re-read every line the other way.
The names of General Body and Governing Board members are filed each year in the Society’s annual return to the Registrar of Societies, where they are a matter of public record.

Accountability upward to investment partners is the easy half. These are the four constituencies DEHAT considers itself answerable to, and the mechanism that makes each one real.
Children, First
No child is identified on this website. Names, photographs, case details and traceable combinations of identity and village are withheld unless there is documented informed consent and a completed safeguarding review - and even then, only where publication serves the child.
Safeguarding review before publicationThe Communities We Work With
Child Parliaments, youth collectives, women farmers’ Aajeevika Adhikar Sangathans and their clusters and federation review the work in their own villages and set what comes next. Village and Gram Sabha processes are where the programme is judged.
Community Institutions and Gram Sabha ReviewGovernment and Regulators
The Registrar of Societies, the Income Tax Department, the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Each filing in the compliance calendar above is a point at which DEHAT is examined.
Statutory Filings and InspectionSocial Investors
Every grant carries a reporting obligation, an audited utilisation statement and, in several cases, an external evaluation. Where a figure is investor-reported or implementer-reported rather than independently verified, this website says so on the project entry itself.
Audited Utilisation and Grant ReportingRaise a Concern
Anyone - a community member, a colleague, a partner or a member of the public - can raise a concern about DEHAT’s conduct, safeguarding practice or use of funds. Write, call or come to the registered office. Concerns about the conduct of team members or the use of funds are placed before the Governing Board.
Hello DEHAT team,
I am writing to raise a safeguarding concern connected to DEHAT’s work.
What happened, where, and when - as much or as little as you are able to write.
Please confirm that this has reached the safeguarding focal point, and tell me who is handling it.
Thank you,
