A little effort makes the Saloni Programme functional in Shikari Chuara

Junior high school Shikari Chaura of Jamunha block of Shrawasti district, situated at a distance of 26 Kms from district head quarter and 14 kms from block head quarter. The upper primary school of the village is covered under Saloni Yojana. In this school there was neither a single lady teacher nor there was a single trained teacher about saloni program. This scheme was not being implemented till 29th of Jan-11.

It was the day of 29th Jan-11, when Block Coordinator of DEHAT has visited this school and found that after implementation of Saloni Yojna,not a single saloni meeting happened nor the IFA distribution registered is prepared and no IFA tablets was ever distributed. When Block Coordinator DEHAT talked to Head master of the school enquiring about the program he came to know that Medical team of PHC jamunaha had visited the school before 3 month for first time but without taking any concern from the adolescent girls of the school give them Iron tablets and alvandazol for consuming and went back to PHC. As the team went back most of the girls threw the tablet in front of the school gate. He also shared that there is no female teacher in the school and that is why the program is suffering. After this Block Coordinator put this problem before ABSA Jamunaha and with little effort he became success and a female teacher of nearby Primary School was attached for organizing Saloni Sabha as a in charge of Saloni Yojna in Shikari Chauda Junior School. The selected teacher oriented by the DEHAt team on saloni and today program was implementing successfully in Shikari Chauda Junior School after 29th of January every month Saloni Sabha is regularly organized. total 62 adolescents girls are enrolled under the scheme.
